Garden salad was just okay, as it was more core than lettuce leaf & the strawberry vinaigerette was so freaking thick I had to borrow dressing from my colleague. I had the NY Strip for my entree & it was delicious. The service was despicable. Our waiter disappeared after dropping our drinks & I had to flag down another waitress to get our waiter found. Our drinks were not kept filled. He never checked to see how our food was. He was just terrible. In fact, a guy at another table waited so long for his beer that he went up to the bar & got it from there instead of letting it get warm. I will not be eating here again.

This restaurant is on the second floor of the Marriott, and, is open for breakfast and lunch. They also have a small bar which closes at 1600. We only had the breakfast during our stay at the Marriott. The service was slow, and, at times, non-existent. The spread on the buffet is presentable with fresh fruits, oatmeal, sausage gravy, biscuits, etc. Eggs are cooked to order, so I got me veggie omelette one day. The omelette was good, but, we weren't impressed with everything else. MEH at best. If you order breakfast off the menu, expect small portions. If you are hungry, then, the buffet is for you. Hashbrowns were mushy, and, the bacon was over cooked and salty. For the most part the food and drinks were pricey, but, it is in a Hotel, so, that's to be expected. What's not to be expected is being ripped off on the bill. Check your bill carefully people, they tried to get us for and extra $10.50!!!

Got up early because I couldn't sleep so went out for breakfast. My Belgian waffle was a little uncooked in the middle for my preference but the bacon--mighty good bacon! It was crispy and fatty.

Ate lunch here since we were staying in the hotel. The atmosphere was casual. The service was good. Had the Cobb Salad. I was skeptical at first as usually a Cobb salad has each component in its own little "pile" and this one was in a chop salad style, but it was very tasty. We were able to get in and out in about 45 minutes.

Five stars for giving me exactly what I want for breakfast, and nothing more, with great service, quiet ambiance, and typical Marriott attention to detail.

Nothing within walking distance was open, so I stopped in and ate the special of the day for dinner - Chicken Two Ways for $20. It was awful. The chicken was tiny, the sweet potatoes were almost runny, and there was some kind of side dish that looked and tasted like peas in tartar sauce.

The other place I ate on my business trip to Des Moines. As it's located in the Marriott, I popped by for dinner - had the Kansas City strip. Steak was fine, tho' a bit blah and a trifle overcooked. The bleu cheese mashed potatoes were interesting, but a bit too heavy on the bleu cheese. While I'm perfectly fine with bleu cheese, these had monster chunks of bleu cheese in amounts that threatened to outweigh the actual mashed potatoes. Waitstaff was, at best, disinterested, tho' not unpleasant or rude. There's not much else to say - it's just a hotel restaurant, nothing remarkable.

I ate at this place for breakfast and dinner for 4 days in a row, so my review may be a bit biased because frankly I was just sick of it by the end. Oh and I only got room service, in which the restaurant may differ slightly. Breakfast is this restaurants forte. I ordered the oatmeal each morning and it came with the right amount of brown sugar and raisins. I also like the strawberries on the side...very nice. If you're not an oatmeal person, my coworker said the omlet was very good, and they also have homemade granola which sounded interesting. Ok, dinner. I can't say that it was that great, although some of the locals said this restaurant was suppose to be great. I had the steamed sea bass with white beans and it seriously lacked flavor. I'd give it a 2.5. The house salad is a plus, just get the dressing on the side unless you enjoy eating soggy overdressed lettuce leaves. The fruit plate was nice, cantaloupe, honey dew, pineapple, and strawberries that comes with a weird orangy yogurt, a very reminiscent taste to that of Tang. Overall I think it was pretty good for room service food and I must say, very reasonably priced.

Over priced unless you have a buy one get one free entertainment book coupon but even then still pricey. Good service but it doesn't make up for the lack of character and a lack of decorating or decent view.
